THE VOLCANO CONSERVATORY
AUGUST 2025
THE FUTURE IS NOW
From Analogue to ai: in live performance!
Are you curious about how AI might affect an artist’s approach to live performance?
OR
Do you crave analogue training, untouched by AI, centred in the human body?
The Volcano Conservatory offers both! Plus a range of in-between options exploring human and machine interaction in artmaking.
Join us August 4–10 at The Theatre Centre for the 2025 Volcano Conservatory — a dynamic week of live performance training and free public talks led by some of the most innovative artists and thinkers in the industry.
Learn More about the instructors and classes below
Alongside performance training from leading, internationally acclaimed artists, this year’s conservatory also offers 5 expert speakers who will engage with the rise of AI from 5 different perspectives – from ethics, to tech, to artistic practice. Come to the Theatre Centre every weekday for 6pm, Aug 4 to 8 (30-minute talks, plus Q&As). This series will culminate in a long-table discussion on Saturday, Aug 9 (4pm), in which staff, experts and you, the audience, are invited to wrestle with the impact of this tech on what we do. This series is offered free of charge (registration encouraged to ensure a place).
AI TALKS AND SPEAKERS
The Volcano Conservatory welcomes artists at all stages of their careers who are seeking a vibrant, collaborative environment to experiment, connect, and grow. Come train, question, and rediscover what makes live performance vital, and get a glimpse of what might be coming.
