SATE is a Toronto-based artist who fuses blistering blues with dirty rock. Daughter of Canadian blues/jazz legend Salome Bey, she’s spent a lifetime immersed in music. Her raw, soulful sound and empowering presence have captivated global audiences, from North & South America to Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Her debut album, RedBlack&Blue, sparked international acclaim, fueling six consecutive European tours. The hit "Warrior" dominated radio and secured syncs in film and TV. Featured in Ebony, Noisey, AMBY, AfroPunk, Vogue, and FADER, SATE is the first and only Black Canadian woman to perform on AfroPunk stages in London, Paris, New York, and Atlanta.
Beyond music, SATE's theatrical prowess shines in productions like APORTIA CHRYPTYCH (Canadian Opera Company), DION: A Rock Opera (Coal Mine Theatre), and Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha: A Musical Reimagining (Volcano Theatre/Luminato), alongside acclaimed productions with Soulpepper, Obsidian/Mirvish, and Canadian Stage.
Her sophomore album, THE FOOL, is a Tarot-inspired cosmic rock odyssey, showcasing her powerful vocals and driving grooves, produced by Hill Kourkoutis. It earned a 2022 JUNO nomination for Alternative Album of the Year, a Polaris Music Prize Long List spot, and a Jim Beam INDIE Award nomination. SATE continues to captivate, proving her artistry is both profound and electrifying.
